| In 2003 grant funds were provided to establish the Child Nutrition Archives at the National Food Service Management Institute located on the campus of the University of Mississippi in Oxford. The Mission of the Child Nutrition Archives is to collect, preserve, and make available to researchers, collections concerning the federal Child Nutrition Programs. These collections include different media such as printed and audiovisual materials, as well as public and private papers. Items to be collected include correspondence; photographs; menu offerings (regional or by state); posters; early textbooks related to Child Nutrition Programs; food service training materials; important newspaper or magazine clippings; personal stories from school food service personnel; transcriptions of hearings, especially at the state level; and artifacts such as tickets, tokens, or school food service collectibles. |
